My work utilizes photography and video as a means to preserve found ephemera and explore notions of representation in the landscape. I use the camera to compose a personalized language of abstract forms found in nature, pointing at connections between globalization, land loss and technology. Satellite weather mapping, astrophotography and Google Earth have notably influenced my views. Cosmic Territory is an extension of a body of work I began after Hurricane Katrina. I find and document motor oil stains dripped from parked cars and vehicles in transit, using the length of my body to measure microscopic galaxies of oil, water, tar and dust. Full Service Island is a video of rapidly dissolving oil stains projected onto the walls of an auto service station. As the Hubble telescope explores the outer limits of the Universe, I challenge known perceptions by observing intimate worlds.
